Job Description

Scientific - Analytical Instrument Technician

Location: Sandwich, Kent

Contract duration: 12 months minimum

Rate: £10.80 p/h to £14.50 p/h

Equivalent to £20,000 to 27,000 per annum dependent on experience

Here at SRG I am looking for my clients next Analytical Instrument Technician. This site has historically provided a track record of discovering new medicines to improve the health and quality of life of people suffering from critical diseases. We need you to join them. Based in Discovery Park, you would be joining a Global giant, with around 700 scientists, technicians, regulatory professionals and business experts all working towards creating life-saving medicines for patients.

Role responsibilities:

Ensure a large fleet of analytical instruments are working well, with a particular focus on a sub-set of high-usage LCMS, GCMS and SFC open access instruments.
Perform a regular timetable of tasks including:

Running test mixes, checking results and responding as appropriate.
Acting as focal point for instrumental issues and ensuring their resolution - i.e. fixing simple issues, or flagging them to the attention of SMEs or engineers.
Checking, preparing and replenishing mobile phases and regularly clearing sample vials from autosamplers
Monitoring gas supplies for GC and SFC instruments, topping up as appropriate to ensure continuity of operation.
Routine cleaning of MS
Ordering in spares and maintaining selected consumables stock for open access instruments
Creating accounts and training new users of open access systems

Experience & Qualifications

Must have significant practical experience working with HPLC instrumentation
Practical experience of GC or SFC instrumentation is desirable
Must have previous experience working within a laboratory environment
Must have familiarity with the concepts of good laboratory practice (GLP) and good manufacturing practice (GMP)
Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, and IT literacy
