With a budget of around £270m, three hospitals and 5,500 staff, North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust provides hospital-based services to the population of Hartlepool, Stockton on Tees and parts of East Durham and Sedgefield as well as community, therapeutic and screening to a wider population across Durham and Teesside.
Stockton Quality Control Laboratory is the regional NHS Pharmaceutical Quality Control Laboratory for the North East, North Cumbria and also supplies services to NHS Trusts in Yorkshire. The laboratory supplies a wide range of quality assurance services to pharmacy departments, hospital estates departments, sterile services departments and other units with clean room facilities. The service also has customers within the private sector and supplies services such as contract analysis to these clients.
The laboratory is based at the University Hospital of North Tees which is part of North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. Stockton Quality Control Laboratory is part of the Pharmacy Department which is in the Clinical Services Directorate.
We require a motivated team player who, under supervision, will be responsible for assisting our external services team in the testing of cleanrooms and medical gases. This will involve:
The post holder will be required to stay away overnight periodically and there will be some unsocial hours.
Along with the main responsibilities above The post holder will be responsible for providing cover for the laboratory van drivers for approximately two months per year. Therefore, the ideal applicant will have experience in delivering delicate goods or samples to multiple locations. Within this part of the role the post holder will be responsible for delivery and collection of goods and samples to and from customer sites across the North of England/West Midlands. To meet the needs of the service the, post holder will be required to commence work early in the day so that samples are received back in the laboratory for processing.
The post holder needs to be reliable and adaptable to the needs of the service as required. Experience of working in a cleanroom environment would be an advantage. A driving licence is essential for this post and applications are invited from those individuals who have experience of driving a range of vans.
