Cardiology/Pre-Surgery Ward (C8), Hammersmith Hospital

Staff Nurse, Band 5

Kickstart your career in cardiac nursing

“The best part of my job is observing the day-to-day achievements of our staff and supporting each individual to reach their best potential. Every day I am amazed at the tenacity of our staff and I love seeing the success stories of our patients due to the interventions of departments across all cardiology areas.

In addition, our C8 ward recently underwent the annual ward accreditation inspection and scored gold across all domains. I was so proud of the whole team and particularly the observation of care being delivered to our patients.” Sarah Storey, Matron for Cardiology

Ward C8 is a 20 bed cardiology ward for patients to step down from CCU, pre-cardiothoracic surgery, pulmonary hypertension and heart failure. As this presents a varied cardiac patient group, this is an ideal ward environment for anyone at the start of their cardiology/cardiac nursing career.

We offer opportunities for further specialist study and you will be supported by a highly visible senior nursing team. This ward is multi-disciplinary led with daily ward rounds from both the cardiology and medicine for the elderly consultants.

Our cardiac team members have an excellent track record for career progression, whether it is into different clinical nurse specialist roles or ward management. We offer strong support networks for preceptorship, mentorship and professional development to ensure you get the very best from your career with us.
