Our client in Buckinghamshire are looking for an OT to join their team
Our client is a SEND school for children with autism and other specific learning difficulties in Buckinghamshire and they are looking for a Band 5 or Band 6 Occupational Therapist to provide services on a full time basis.
They are looking for an Occupational Therapist passionate about paediatrics and about making a significant different to the lives of the children and young people they work with.
Work will involve working at a universal, targeted and specialist level to best meet the needs of the school. This will involve assessments, reports, intervention, group work and staff training.
The successful candidate will be fully supported through weekly supervision by their Senior Paediatric Occupational Therapist.
Working hours are Monday - Friday (37.5 hours per week).
There are currently 140 children aged 11-19 in the school but this number is to rise over the next academic year with the addition of more places for post 16 pupils with higher needs.
The role will require providing occupational therapy input for children with autism and sensory needs. It will entail providing screening, assessments, sensory diets, 1:1 and group therapy to children and young people helping them work towards reaching physical milestones and maximising their quality of life.
Duties will include training school staff, parents and carers and collaborating with a wider MDT of speech & language therapists, physiotherapists, psychologists, dietitians, school nurses and educational staff. Responsibilities will also include involvement in meetings with teams around specific children, such as child at risk, child protection and SEN review teams.
To be successful in this role you would need to:
Provide a high quality of evidence-based occupational therapy to children of all ages in education settings
Train school staff, other therapists and parents and carers to effectively deliver appropriate therapeutic intervention
Be able to consider the holistic needs of each child and young person when working to achieve their goals and aspirations
Help children make significant progress with regards to their physical developmental
