Job Description

Dietetic & Speech Therapy Service

Band 5 Dietitian

We are looking for a confident and motivated Dietitian to join our Dietetic and Speech Therapy Team at The Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The Hillingdon Hospital is a busy district general hospital in North West London and has a diverse patient population. It is situated close to Heathrow Airport and Brunel University and within a 10 minute commute by public transport to Uxbridge Town Centre which has excellent transport links to central London. The Trust has on-site accommodation and a crèche.

Our friendly team consists of 11 Dietitians, 7 Speech & Language Therapists and 3 administrators.

The successful candidate will be part of a medical and surgical band 5 rotation within our adult dietetic team. The clinical caseload will include providing a high quality, evidence-based dietetic service to the adult inpatient wards including acute and general medicine, orthopaedics, cardiology and care of the elderly where you will be a valued member of the multidisciplinary teams. In addition, you will be managing an outpatient caseload, which includes a weekly general or diabetes clinic for patients with type 2 diabetes and diabetes during pregnancy.

The post-holder will be involved in providing regular training to staff on nutrition and to patients as part of either the cardiac rehabilitation program, healthy eating during pregnancy or gestational diabetes group. In addition we would support you to become involved in supervision of student dietitians on placements 2 and 3, after approximately 6 months clinical experience and adequate training.

The Dietetic and Speech Therapy team is committed to continuing professional development, providing monthly coaching conversations and professional development sessions. We encourage staff as part of their annual appraisal to have an active involvement in audit and service improvement projects. There will also be opportunity to shadow specialist dietitians in areas such as paediatrics, neuro-rehabilitation, colorectal surgery and critical care.

We currently hold the Investors in People Award and are very proud of this and ensure that the ethos of this is embedded in everyday practice.

Candidates must be a qualified dietitian and registered with the HCPC. If you are enthusiastic and keen to be a member of our team, we would love to hear from you.
