The Zachary Cope Ward (Vascular), St Mary’s Hospital
Staff Nurse Band 5
Where exceptional care combines with internationally renowned innovation
“All the staff - anaesthetists, nurses, everyone - were courteous and caring. The procedure was flawless. I had a difficult time recovering from the anaesthetic, but the nurse in recovery was just wonderful. She guided me through everything, encouraged me, and was funny and charming all the time.” Quote from an ex-patient
Our vascular service is internationally recognised and the only centre in the UK currently providing endo-robotic surgery for aortic, carotid and peripheral vascular interventions. We are renowned for pioneering new technology, with a hybrid theatre now in place for our open Aneurysm repairs.
But we also understand that providing exceptional healthcare is about much more than technology. It’s about delivering a personal, high quality service that’s warm and compassionate as well as inquisitive and informative.
The Zachary Cope ward is a 24-bed vascular surgical ward with four monitored vascular intermediate bays, which cater for post-operative Carotid endartherectomies, femoral popliteal Bypass, repair of limb Arterial/Venous Malformations, Below knee amputations and venous thrombolysis.
So whether you are a newly qualified nurse or a final year nursing student, we can offer you excellent training and development opportunities. We continuously run an innovative vascular course at South Bank University, and we also offer support networks for preceptorship, mentorship and professional development.
