The Pharmacy department of the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust is a friendly, progressive and expanding unit dedicated to providing the highest standards of pharmaceutical care and service in this large, internationally renowned teaching hospital. The Trust sites have good transport links to the West End and major mainline train stations such as Kings Cross, Euston, London Bridge and Charing Cross.
The Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust includes the Barnet and Chase Farm Hospital sites and this makes us one of the largest NHS Trusts in the UK. In addition to this the Royal Free has an expanding and high profile Clinical Trials unit which forms part of the newly created Institute of Immunity and Transplantation, we also host one of the most extensive manufacturing suites in the NHS.
We have an exciting new opportunity for experienced hospital Pharmacists keen to develop the skills gained through junior pharmacist rotations to support various Pharmacy operational and clinical teams in this busy teaching hospital. Each rotation of 9- 12 months will involve different aspects of hospital pharmacy including the following:-
Within each rotation the postholder will provide a clinical pharmacy service to the specialist area as well as directorate responsibilities with the support of the senior directorate pharmacist (e.g. drug expenditure reporting, audits, Drug and Therapeutic committee submissions, guideline writing and risk management). Furthermore, the rotations encompass managerial responsibilities such as, managing teams and day-to-day running of services, implementing and driving change in services, coordinating the departmental internal and external educational programme, and appraisal / training of junior staff.
Candidates will ideally have hospital experience and have completed (or nearly completed) a clinical diploma, be enthusiastic, resourceful and ready for a new challenge. This is an ideal opportunity for pharmacists looking to progress their careers since experience will be gained in both management and clinical pharmacy.
