Based very centrally to LeedsThis is an exciting opportunity to work as a Biochemical Product Engineer in a rapidly growing Biotech company that using food waste to develop bioplastics and innovative materials. The role will be based in Leeds with a predicted start date of May. They are looking for someone who has a background in Chemical Engineering or Biochemical Engineering to assist in process development and optimisation of their bioplastic production process. The role will be focused on modelling process scale-up (lab scale to small production plant) and will play a vital role in the development of new sustainable materials.
What you'll be doing?
You will be involved in designing and improving the bioplastic production process which will include fermentation, downstream processing and polymerisation. You will be involved in process optimisation and sensitivity analysis as well as creating P&IDs, plant layout and plant design. You will also participate in HAZOP, HAZID and SIL reviews.
What experience you'll need to apply?
Educated to HNC or Degree level in a Scientific/Engineering discipline with > 4 years of industrial experience
Chartered status with a relevant professional institution (i.e. chartered engineer with IChemE)
Previous experience of plant design & scale-up of biochemical processes
Previous experience modelling fermentation and biochemical processing
Previous experience with process optimisation and sensitivity analysisWhat you’ll get in return for your experience:
