We are looking to appoint a full time, HCPC-registered Biomedical Scientist in the Neuropathology Department at Southmead Hospital. Applications are invited from enthusiastic, adaptable individuals who would enjoy working as part of a friendly team in this busy department.
Basic histology training is an essential pre-requisite, and some experience of working in a Neuropathology environment would be an advantage. The successful candidate must have completed the IBMS Specialist Diploma in Cellular Pathology, or equivalent.
The successful applicant must have the motivation and aptitude to become proficient in the wide range of techniques used in this specialty and be able to follow instructions and procedures.
The ideal candidate will be organised, keen to learn and reliable. They must be able to work effectively as part of a small team, as well as being able to work independently. Excellent communication skills are required and the candidate must have attention to detail. Some knowledge of BSN EN ISO:15189 would be an advantage.
The Neuropathology department is located in purpose built laboratories at Southmead Hospital and processes neuropathological specimens from surgical patients or autopsies. It is currently accredited to ISO 15189.
This is a permanent, full-time position (37.5 hours per week, five days per week, Mon - Fri).
