Spire Manchester is looking for a Biomedical Scientist (BMS) within Microbiology and Virology section. This is your opportunity to join one of the UK’s best leading hospitals and take your career to the next level. The laboratory provides the pathology service to Spire Manchester Hospital and also serves as a Hub Laboratory for the Spire Healthcare Hospitals from the Midlands to the North of the UK.

Spire Manchester Hospital is a £65m state-of-the-art healthcare facility offering patients a wide range of integrated surgical, medical and diagnostic services. The rapidly expanding team in Manchester consists of over 700 colleagues, who thrive in the welcoming atmosphere that is friendly, supportive and progressive.

Duties and responsibilities:

The successful Biomedical Scientist will be expected to work within the microbiology and virology section of a multidiscipline laboratory. You will plan, analyse, assess and report pathology investigations, ensuring the pathology service are provided in an accurate, efficient and cost-effective manner. The pathology department offers extensive in-house training and continual professional development opportunities. We are passionate about developing our staff in order for them to fulfil their potential.

Who we're looking for –

  • HCPC Registered with laboratory experience in Microbiology and virology
  • Previous experience of leadership or deputising a team is desirable.
  • Communication/organised/role model/showcase excellent patient care etc
