Biomedical Support Worker (Band 2)

An opportunity has arisen for a number of full-time Biomedical Support Workers/Phlebotomists to provide assistance with technical support in a busy clinical diagnostic laboratory. Applications are invited from enthusiastic candidates who have a methodical approach to work, an interest in science and/or laboratory work and enjoy working as part of a team.
The post will involve good attention to detail, dealing with telephone enquiries, handling patient samples and preparing samples for analysis, monitoring & ordering stock and assisting in the receipt of deliveries, organisation of safe storage of goods, and general laboratory housekeeping.
The post holders will be expected to follow Standard Operating Procedures, have good IT skills, a versatile approach to working, perform manual processes, be able to use and maintain automated equipment once trained, and support Biomedical Scientists in their routine work. Some of these posts require training in Phlebotomy, which will involve working in different locations in the hospital in order to bleed patients.
Full training will be provided.
