Are you an experienced automotive engineer looking to shape the future of vehicle technologies? Our client, a well-known provider of technologies within the automotive and motorsport markets, is currently looking for a highly skilled Chief Engineer to join their team across the East of the UK. 

The role 

As a Chief Engineer, you’ll recruit, develop, and direct a talented engineering team to deliver high-quality outcomes, providing direction in all areas of technology, innovation, and engineering application. You will execute engineering plans that implement key processes and strategies to ensure operational excellence for the customer base. 

Other responsibilities include: 

  • Delivering to time, cost, quality and functional objectives 

  • Creating a high energy and proactive working environment 

  • Acting as a lead change agent, able to channel resources effectively  

  • Proposing solutions in response to assessment requests to technical risks and challenges 

  • Coordinating the management of multiple projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and to budget 

  • Working as part of a team to evaluate new technologies to improve products and services ahead of time 

  • Delivering reports and feedback to the Senior Management Team 

  • Building strong relationships with suppliers

The requirements 

You’ll have 10+ years of exceptional automotive engineering experience, as well as: 

  • Demonstrable experience in system-level design and engineering, the design verification testing process, and new product delivery 

  • Proven Engineering team leadership including mentoring in the field of mechanical engineering

  • Knowledge of steering systems (desirable) 

  • Able to lead and empower teams in a fast-paced, technical environment 

  • Innovative and able to resolve challenges 

  • Analytical and methodological 

  • Able to credibly engage with customers, suppliers and investors 

  • Excellent presentation skills 

  • Strong IT proficiency
