Clinical Fellow in Anaesthesia and Critical Care with an interest in Pre-hospital Emergency Medicine (PHEM)

This post has been specifically designed as an introduction to pre-hospital emergency medicine (PHEM). It would ideally suit trainees with little or no prior experience of PHEM, who are considering applying for a PHEM training post in the future.

As detailed below, it will be structured in such a way as to provide experience across the themes listed in the PHEM curriculum. It has been designed by, and will be supported by, our PHEM Consultants who are all experienced in training PHEM trainees. This program will hopefully help you decide if a career in PHEM is the right one for you. If so, it will provide you with the experience and opportunities that will make a future application to a PHEM sub-specialty training post more competitive.

This post is open to candidates from any specialty background who have, as a minimum, completed the Foundation Program or equivalent. It is our intention to allocate the hospital component of the fellowship to the level of experience and training the successful candidate(s) has already attained. The successful candidate(s) could therefore expect to be working on the Critical Care Unit, supporting the General Theatres rota, the Obsetric Rota or the Senior Trainee on call rota or a combination of these, spread across the year.

Although this post is not a recognised training post, all fellows will be appointed an Educational Supervisor who will help them maximise opportunities and their CV whilst they are with us. We are a supportive department, very popular with trainees on rotation from East Midlands School of Anaesthesia, and have had a high success rate in the FRCA in recent years.

To deliver best possible care for our patients:

  • We put patient safety above all else
  • We aspire to excellence
  • We reflect, we learn, we improve
  • We respect and support each other

Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship

Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications.
