Posts are scheduled to last 3 years and will allow candidates to gain experience in multiple specialties including cardiology, intensive care, acute medicine, gastroenterology and stroke medicine, care of the elderly, respiratory medicine and diabetes. Clinical duties will be aimed at the ST1 - 2 levels and will include ward rounds, specialist clinics and participation on the medical on call rota (evenings, weekends and nights). Applicants will be given educational and clinical supervision and support using both a virtual learning environment and face-to-face teaching. During the two years candidates will be expected to work towards attaining full MRCP and thus be ready to perform at the level of medical registrar on completion of their posts. In addition there will be multiple opportunities to participate in audit and other educational activities throughout the rotations. Please note that these posts do not have educational approval from the Deanery, but training will be provided in a similar way as for other trainees at the same level e.g. Core Medical Trainees. Candidates will be expected to keep their skills up to date by engaging in continuing medical education.. This post attracts up to 7 days Study Leave per year, and the postholder will have access to funds to support agreed courses. Educational supervision and support will be provided using both a virtual learning environment and face-to-face teaching. You will also have a dedicated supervisor, mentor and e-portfolio for revalidation and career progression. The programme mirrors core medical training to ensure educational needs are met and clinical competencies are developed. Candidates will need to have a medical degree, a minimum of 2 years' full time (or equivalent part time) teaching/ academic hospital service and either PLAB 1&2 or MRCP. Candidates will need to be eligible for registration with the British General Medical Council (GMC) and have good team working and communication skills. Salary will be on the SPR (FT) pay scale which ranges from £30,302 to £41,000 per annum plus a banding supplement of 40% for on-call duties.
