Main Tasks

  • To share responsibility in ensuring the highest standards of support and care are provided for the residents, that detailed Care Packages are in place and an effective service is delivered.
  • To deliver service provision in the context of “Person Centred Planning"
  • To ensure adherence to all requirements and regulations laid out by all relevant legislation.
  • To help effectively develop good communication links between members of the team and colleagues.
  • To be aware of staffing needs and to work allocated shifts which include sleep-in duties if required.


Management of Staff

  • To help train and motivate staff through example and attention to the maintenance of good working practice and effective communication.
  • To assist in the induction, development, supervision and training of all nursing staff within the home.
  • To assist in monitoring the work performance of all nursing staff.
  • To participate in annual appraisals
  • To work effectively to monitor and develop a high quality nursing team.


Management of Residents

  • To take responsibility for the clinical development and maintenance of comprehensive Care Plans for each individual resident.
  • To ensure that the nursing team support residents effectively and that their needs are met with a proactive enabling approach.
  • To ensure that all nursing staff is fully aware of all Action Plans, Risk Assessments, and guidelines, and that there is documented evidence of this.
  • To ensure continuity of care and support of the highest level based on an individualistic approach
  • To recognise the spiritual and cultural needs of each individual.
