Senior Clinical Pathologist
We have a vacancy for a Clinical Pathologist to join our veterinary team. This post will continue the growth and expansion of our clinical pathology service which was launched in October 2011.
We are looking for an experienced Clinical Pathologist with a post-graduate qualification in Clinical Pathology (FRCPath, DipECVCP, DipACVP etc). Consideration would also be given to eligible examination candidates and to those with a post-graduate qualification in Internal Medicine. Interest or experience in farm animal laboratory testing would also be an advantage and we would consider applicants whose principle expertise is in this area.
You will join our team of 5 vets and take the lead in providing our clinical pathology service which complements our long standing infectious disease testing service. The clinical pathology team comprises one other pathologist, a haematology / biochemistry technician and a microbiologist. As the Senior Clinical Pathologist you will have line management responsibility for the other members of the team. You will perform cytological and haematological examinations and participate in the reporting and interpretation of diagnostic submissions across all disciplines in clinical pathology and clinical microbiology as well as providing telephone support and consultation. We maintain strong collaborative links with local academic institutions and the potential exists to develop this further for case discussion and personal development. The role will also involve the active marketing of our services to local practices to build on our existing client base. This will include hosting local CPD events, representing Biobest at appropriate conferences, preparation of marketing materials in conjunction with our administrative team, and visiting local practices.
The position is permanent and is available from January 2014. It will be based on-site at our laboratories and offices on the Edinburgh Technopole site, a Science Park 8 miles from Central Edinburgh.
