Consultant in Infectious Diseases and General Internal Medicine

Applications are invited for this replacement post (10 PA) within the Infection team at Imperial Healthcare NHS Trust. The post will be primarily based at the St Mary’s Hospital (including the acute medicine component) but with three months of infectious diseases ward cover at the Hammersmith Hospital and additional cross cover when required. The successful candidate will actively participate in the delivery of the Infection service across the Trust and the acute medicine on-call rota at St Mary’s Hospital.

He/she will join a team of 16 other infection consultants spread across infectious diseases, microbiology, virology and pharmacy who work across all Trust sites. The department provides training for specialist trainees in medical microbiology, infectious diseases and clinical virology and has a history of promoting academic achievement.

Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust is one of the largest NHS Trust in the country and the UK’s first academic health science centre (AHSC), in collaboration with Imperial College London. The Trust has an annual turnover of over £1 billion, approximately 11,000 staff and it sees over 500,000 patients a year.

The post holders must hold MRCP (or equivalent) and either be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining their specialist registration in infectious diseases and internal medicine at the time of the interview.
