Consultant in Palliative Medicine
(Full time, but less than full time applicants will be considered)
We are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Palliative Care Consultant to join our Palliative Care Team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust.
The post will be based predominantly at St Mary’s Hospital with a focus on admissions to the Acute Medical Unit. The palliative care team works directly with the majority of the clinical teams across all Divisions within our Trust. Our workload is varied with an increasing non-malignant caseload currently accounting for 47% of all referrals trust-wide. Patients are seen in every ward and hospital setting, with a wide range of diagnoses. All team members are expected to have high knowledge and excellent communication skills, deliver the highest quality of care and education and to show dedication and innovation. The successful candidate will be part of a telephone based on-call service providing out of-hours advice to the acute hospital services.
The successful candidate will join a team comprising of other palliative care consultants, palliative care clinical nurse specialists, clinical nurse specialists in training and doctors in training. The opportunities for service development and education are numerous and can be guided by the interests of the applicants.
Prospective candidates should be within 6 months of obtaining their CCT, or be listed on the Specialist Register of the GMC for Palliative Medicine.
