Key Details: I am recruiting for a Consultant who specialises in Ophthalmology to join a Private Hospital located in Somerset to provide exceptional patient care referred from the NHS and private patients.

The Key Details are -

Location: Southampton: Somerset - within easy access via Train, Bus and Car with Car Park

Salary: £100,000 - £120,000 per annum / £51.28 - £61.53 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week.

Hours: 40 hours per week

Further Details about the Role: As a Consultant Ophthalmologist you will be required to perform a range of procedures referred to the treatment centre working in accordance with treatment centre protocols and working practices. Duties will include preoperative, intra operative and postoperative activities as well as utilising time allocated for Supporting Professional Activity. The surgeon will participate in pre-operative assessment in Outpatients prior to surgery, and in all aspects of the operative care of the patients. It is anticipated that the surgeon will spend the equivalent of up to three days in the operating theatre (pro rata) and two days a week in a combination of outpatient assessment; administrative, management and clinical governance duties. S/he will work closely with clinical colleagues to enhance the level of patient care at the Centre. The post holder will be expected to actively contribute to research and active audit.

Person Specification: I am looking for the successful applicant for this Consultant opportunity to possess Full and specialist GMC Registration with licence to practice. UK Registerable Medical Degree. Experience of high-volume cataract surgery under topical anaesthesia. Able to offer expert clinical opinion on range of problems within ophthalmology. Able to take full and independent responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision. Wide training and experience in general ophthalmology
