A rare opportunity has arisen to play a vital role within an established dental practice with a first class local reputation. The successful candidate will join a high performing team that continually strive for excellence. You will be responsible for all aspects of dental nursing and responsible for the smooth running of a surgery. Candidates must be competent in written and spoken English and have a good standard of numeracy. Applications from un-qualified dental nurses will be considered that are currently enrolled on a training programme and have significant experience which enables them to work unsupervised in surgery. Desirable candidates will have experience of Kodak R4, Denplan and NHS schemes. Evidence of relevant qualifications/grades will be required at interview. You will be expected to work to high standards whilst managing a busy workload and communicate well within a team. This role will involve working over two sites, decontamination duties and possibly reception work with training. A 'can do' positive attitude and an excellent work ethic are essential for this role.
Hours: 39 Hours per week
Monday to Thursday 8.30am - 5.45pm with 1 hour for lunch
Duration: Permanent following 6 month probationary period

Ø Successful candidates will be expected to attend an interview and full day assessment
Ensure that the surgery is organised in an efficient manner and patients are looked after during their visit to the practice.
Ø Keep the clinical areas and all equipment and instruments clean, tidy and sterile as appropriate according to the practice's health and safety and infection control procedures and manufacturers' instructions, including observation for safety issues which may affect those who visit and use the practice and notify a senior member of staff of any safety issues
Ø Use all equipment and machinery in accordance with manufacturers' recommendations and ensure that they are maintained regularly and in good working order
Ø Provide chairside assistance, ensuring that the correct equipment is available
Ø Ensure the care and welfare of patients
Ø Accurately complete patient clinical records as directed
Ø Handle all substances in accordance with health and safety policies
Ø Be familiar and comply with all health and safety rules and guidance, including PPE, COSHH, mercury handling, infection control, waste disposal etc
Ø Complete laboratory request forms
Ø Liaise with dental laboratories, supply companies and other organisations as required
Ø Ensure adequate stocks of materials and other items within the surgery
Ø Liaise with the person responsible for ordering, to ensure stock levels are kept at the agreed levels
Ø Ensure computer/written records are accurately maintained and securely stored (where paper records are still in use)
Ø Liaise with reception to ensure smooth patient communications and transfer of records and information
Ø Attend and participate in practice meetings
Ø Other duties as necessary for the efficient operation of the practice (perhaps including the duties and tasks of receptionist or instrument duty as required)
Ø Undergo training as required to develop skills and abilities
Ø Attend refresher and update training to comply with the GDCs regulations
Ø Act in accordance with the practice rules and code of conduct
Ø Liaise with the Head Nurse and/or Practice Manager
Ø Work at other practice locations as required
Care Quality Commission
Ø Co-operate with the systems in place to ensure the practice maintains its registration.
There may be opportunities to undertake other duties and responsibilities of a similar level from time to time.
