Job Description

We are seeking a bright, enthusiastic, experienced diagnostics scientist to join a company based just outside Royston. This is a client facing role, requiring strong communication and interpersonal skills. You will have an excellent commercial and academic track record and will enjoy creating elegant, manufacturable solutions to complex technical challenges.

You will be a core team member bringing products to the market, involved in all stages of technology and product development including assay design, product insight and experimental validation studies. As well as bringing depth and skills in diagnostic assays, your technical breadth will enable you to quickly grasp new ideas and collaborate effectively with people from a range of technical backgrounds.


* Significant hands-on experience of diagnostic assay development (qPCR, RT-qPCR, LAMP, ELISA or similar) with demonstrable commercial results
* Familiarity with regulated development / working with processes such as ISO 13485 / ISO17025
* Understanding of the application of diagnostics in the point of care and clinical environments
* Good awareness of commercial trends and opportunities in the diagnostics field
* A minimum 5 years' post-university experience in a commercial environment in an innovative hands-on role
* A first or 2:1 in biology, biochemistry or a related discipline from a world-class university and a solid knowledge base across molecular and protein biochemistry, as well as in modern bioanalytical methods
* Experience in a client-facing or collaborative role

The following would be an advantage:
* PhD in a relevant area
* Experience of technical leadership within a role or a project
* Experience of a multidisciplinary environment such as working with engineers or physicists developing new diagnostic systems
