Applications are invited for an epidemiologist to be a member of the Health Behaviours team within the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences. The postholder will work primarily on the analysis of routine food purchasing data at both store and individual level using observational study designs, natural experiments and the analysis of controlled trials. This includes both individual-level data from loyalty cards and population-level interventions. This work will contribute both to the Livestock, Environment and People (LEAP) programme funded by the Wellcome Trust and diet and obesity themes in the Oxford Biomedical Research Centre and Applied Research Collaboration.
The appointee will contribute ideas for new research projects and develop research questions within the context of healthy, sustainable diets. The appointee will also analyse detailed and complex qualitative and/or quantitative data from a variety of sources and generate original ideas by building on existing concepts.
The successful applicant will have experience in the management of real-world complex datasets with strong specialist knowledge in standard parametric and non-parametric statistical methods, and experience in using at least two statistical software packages such as Stata, S-PLUS, R, SPSS, SAS or similar. You will hold a relevant PhD/DPhil degree, together with further research experience in diet and/or other health-related behaviours.
You will be based in the Nuffield Department of Primary Care Health Sciences, Radcliffe Primary Care Building, Woodstock Road, Oxford, OX2 6GG.
The position is funded by the Wellcome Trust until 31 December 2021 in the first instance.
