The role involves providing effective support for children, young people and their families directly as a family support worker within the Localities Service Role involves working with the Whole Family in order to ensure good outcomes for all. Day to day management of the post will rest with the Early Help and Prevention Service based in Children`s Services. You will work with colleagues in the Family Support Service, Health, Education, Youth Justice, social care and Youth Service as well as a range of other agencies to provide a multi-disciplinary approach to children and families with complex needs. Knowledge: - Clearly demonstrated ability in direct work with children, young people and families - Experience of working with young people and their families from diverse cultures and backgrounds. - Experience of operating within an equal opportunities` framework. - Ability to think creatively and problem solve and meet deadlines. - Ability to mentor others and apply good standards of practice. - Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team within a community and to draw on the strengths of the team. - Knowledge of different methods of family support and intervention. - Knowledge of the statutory functions of the local authority and where Early Help and Support sits. - A working knowledge of other relevant legislation, relevant national resources and relevant experience in working directly with adolescents and other agencies to resolve conflict and reduce risk.
