Job Description

Healthcare Assistant - Men`s Mental Health: Medium Secure IPU
Location: Northampton
From £16,980 plus enhancements (£19,405 inclusive of enhancements based on standard shifts)
Hours: 37.5 per week

Our specialist Men`s Medium Secure IPU is made up of 5 wards; Prichard, Cranford, Robinson, Fairbairn and Rose. All situated in William Wake House, each ward has their area of specialism and provides exceptional care for male patients with needs including; deaf/communication difficulties, brain injury and personality disorders.

Your role with us

As a HCA, you`ll be under the guidance of a qualified healthcare professional, usually a nurse, and work with doctors, psychologists and a range of other healthcare professionals. The main contact you`ll have, though, is with the people in our care.

There are no set entry requirements to become a Healthcare Assistant but there are skills and personal characteristics needed, the role can be quite active and we would therefore require you to be able to cope with the demands of an active post. To be a Healthcare Assistant in mental health care, you`ll need to be:

- Resilient
- Caring and kind
- Cheerful and friendly
- Willing to do personal care tasks (washing, toileting, etc.) in some areas
- Able to follow instructions and procedures
- Able to work in a team but use your own initiative


You`ll also need:

- Communication and listening skills
- Organisational skills
- Observational skills
