In-House Solicitor – Salary according to experience, Bromley, Kent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an In-House Solicitor to work with the Chairman and The Board providing advice on legal issues arising during business for a broad range of issues including commercial and property-related matters but not exclusive. 

Excelcare is a privately owned care provider operating 33 Nursing and Care homes predominantly in the South East.

This is a highly diverse role and would suit a solicitor keen to manage a wide range of work projects. You would be required to have  considerable experience working within a legal environment  dealing with contractual issues, be familiar with and inter- governmental regulations with exceptional attention to the detail and ability to recognise and identify issues contained within complex documentation and be in a position to translate  and advise the Board and its Chairman and provide sound advice to progress decision making. 

Your Role as In-House Solicitor:

• Provide accurate and timely advice
• Draft, review, and implement a suite of legal documents.
• Develop, roll out and manage new template agreements. Ensure teams within the business are trained and briefed on effective use of the documents and ongoing compliance.
• Advise on existing and on-going contractual agreements
• Manage or assist the business with claims, disputes, and litigation.
• Instruct and liaise with external counsel where necessary.
• Identify and mitigate legal risks
• Understand the regulatory frameworks in which the group operates and advice on compliance with legal and regulatory requirements and corporate governance as required
• Advise on general commercial property transactions such as sales, purchases, mortgages, bridge lending, business leases in relation to our property portfolio
• Provide advice on shareholder agreements and commercial arrangements with third parties.
• Carry out due diligence, research and correctly identify the business path required and actions needed.

Experience  

• Strong Academic background and qualifications, preferably a Qualified Solicitor in England & Wales with at least 3 years PQE or equivalent
• Proactive self-starter, comfortable working with limited supervision
• Ability to deliver high quality, clear and timely legal advice
• Strong interpersonal skills and a sound commercial approach
• Excellent organisation, communication and analytical skills and the ability to apply them to achieve commercial solutions
• Attention to detail and the ability to spot issues, get to the heart of the matter and articulate plans to address them
• Desirable 
• Extensive knowledge contract law and litigation
• be familiar with CPR rules
• understand aspects of charity law
• be able to understand planning regulations
• Knowledge of data protection/GDPR and employment law
• Previous in-house experience

The role will be based at our Head Offices in Bromley, Kent and is a full-time permanent position. We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.
