We have an excellent Locum Independent Reviewing Officer opportunity available in the Lancashire, Preston area… Please note that this post is Agile Working.

Responsibilities:

  • The Independent Reviewing Officer will chair both Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Children Review's
  • Complete Reg 44 visits to Children's homes and support the development of quality services for all young people in the area.
  • The role will support the independent nature of the reviewing service, support families facing change and most importantly act as an advocate and work for better outcomes for young people.

To be considered for the IRO role...ideally, you will have:

  • BSc Social Work or equivalent
  • HCPC registration
  • Experience of chairing child protection conferences
  • Experience of chairing Looked after Children reviews
  • In-depth knowledge legal frameworks with associated statutory legislation and statutory guidance
  • Ensure that the voice of the child remains central to care planning
  • Experience in developing learning and improving social work practice through the completion of quality assurance audits
  • Ability to challenge when progress of planning is not improving outcomes for children
  • Ability to promote partnership working to improve the lived experience of the child
  • Ability to meet deadlines and adhere to performance indicators
