Through their specialised clinical trial platform, my client plays a key role in drug and vaccine development across a range of infectious and respiratory diseases. Their state of the art clinical and laboratory facilities are based in Central London, where they are looking to bring on board a Laboratory Team Lead - Clinical Research. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the smooth running of the GCP Virology / Immunology laboratory and associated projects, including the scheduling and training lab team members.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a team of driven scientists within a highly specialised virology and immunology laboratory, playing a key role in COVID-19 advancements, drug discovery and development.
Key Responsibilities of the Laboratory Team Lead - Clinical Research will include;
Manage the GCP laboratory team including laboratory technicians and research assistants.
Oversee laboratory projects through managing resources, activities and the team work load.
Ensure laboratory team members are trained in relevant scientific techniques.
Implement efficient team working schedules in line with study requirements.
Review and update laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures (SOP's).
Ensure laboratory compliance to Good Clinical Practice (GCP / GCLP) and other applicable regulatory requirements.
Provide scientific knowledge and expertise to laboratory team members, including supporting and training in associated Virology / Immunology techniques.
To be considered for this Laboratory Team Lead - Clinical Research vacancy you will need the following skills and experience;
BSc / MSc / PhD in Life Sciences (Biochemistry, Virology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Infectious Disease etc.) or equivalent working experience.
Experience of Laboratory Leadership, including demonstratable experience in line or matrix management.
Awareness of ICH-GCP and associated regulatory standards.
Previous experience working within a CRO / industry environment is preferable.
Experience with viral and/or immunology techniques is highly favourable e.g. Plaque assay, infectivity assay, neutralization assay, PCR, qPCR, rtPCR, cell culture, ELISPOT, ELISA & Cytokine Biomarker analysis.
Excellent communication skills and a personable nature, to support relationship building within the lab team and cross functionally within the organisation.
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail to ensure lab projects and team workload are managed appropriately.
