Applications are invited for a Specialty Registrar grade in Cardiology available from 05 February 2020 to 04 August 2020. This post is being advertised as the post is currently vacant on the Wessex Deanery Cardiology training scheme.
Applicants should have completed General Professional Training in hospital medicine and have passed the MRCP or equivalent.
The post holder will be based at St Mary’s Hospital, Newport, Isle of Wight. The post holder will be expected to work at ST3 level in both Cardiology and General (Internal) Medicine.
The Cardiology Department has trained a Wessex Deanery Cardiology Specialist Registrar or LAT/LAS since 2005. There are ample opportunities for clinical cardiology experience in both in-patient and out-patient settings. The Cardiology department offers a well-equipped non-invasive diagnostic service, including trans-oesophageal echocardiography. There is a full permanent pacing service.
Subject to satisfactory performance, post holders wishing to apply to Wessex Deanery for a substantive National Training Number (NTN) post will be fully supported.
LAS posts do not attract a NTN, and the post will not normally count towards the award of the Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT).
The post is available from 05 February 2020 to 04 August 2020 but may be extendable beyond this date with Wessex Deanery approval.
The post holder will participate in the medical on call rota. The rota pattern is full shift with a weekend allowance payable.
Single accommodation is available to rent in a modern residential block on the St Mary’s Hospital site. Family accommodation is subject to availability.

This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
