Lead MRI Radiographer | Band 7 equivalent | Horley | Full Time

Spire Gatwick Park Hospital offers a busy imaging service for both private and NHS patients.  We pride ourselves in the service, which we offer to our patients and are looking for a friendly, dedicated and experienced radiographer to fill the role, which has recently become available.  The MRI service covers all imaging including Cardiac MRI working on a Siemens 3T Skyra MRI Scanner. 

What will you be responsible for?

As a Lead Radiographer with Spire you will be responsible for providing first point of call management and clinical leadership, operating in accordance with local guidelines and company policies to deliver a service that is aligned to contractual and governance requirements. In addition to your supervisory duties, you will work clinically as a Radiographer and complete MRI procedures, coaching other members of staff where necessary. You will also maintain and continually develop an efficient imaging service, optimizing patient care.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Supervise a team of Radiographers undertaking modality specific imaging procedures
  • Undertake MRI scans in line with existing modality specific clinical guidelines and protocols (MHRA Guidance 2007, IR(ME)R 2000, Code of Clinical Practice)
  • Conduct competency assessments at regular intervals, ensuring any development needs are identified and followed up
  • Be actively involved in the recruitment, appointment and induction of new clinical staff
  • Arrange rotas for clinical staff where required
  • Ensure good communication is maintained with the team and consultants to deliver a smooth-running service
  • Deal with day to day staff queries, liaising with appropriate support functions where required to resolve the queries within a reasonable timeframe
  • Take ownership of governance activities i.e. audits, personal development, and team meetings with the support of your colleagues

Who we're looking for

  • Have the ability to supervise a team of Radiographers when necessary, instilling confidence in your co-workers, working alongside the Imaging Manager
  • Are calm in challenging situations and works well under pressure
  • Have experience of undertaking basic and complex MRI procedures, including Cardiac MRI scanning
  • Have a BSc in diagnostic radiography or equivalent
  • Hold a valid professional membership (HCPC registration)
  • Have a minimum of three years’ experience
  • Have a professional and cooperative attitude towards all service users and colleagues
