The Trust provides services to the 440,000 residents of Blackpool, Fylde & Wyre and North Lancashire, as well as specialist tertiary care for Cardiac and Haematology patients. As part of the Medicines Optimisation Agenda the Trust is looking to appoint an experienced
and highly motivated pharmacist into this senior position of Specialist Pharmacist for
Rheumatology and Dermatology
The successful candidate will work with pharmacy and clinical specialities within the Trust to
provide a high quality clinical pharmacy service to the specialities of Rheumatology and
Dermatology. They will work closely with the Multi-Disciplinary Teams to facilitate best practice
for medicines management ensuring medicines are used safely, appropriately, cost effectively
and in accordance with local policies.
This is a new and challenging role for a senior Pharmacist but will be fully supported by
pharmacy and lead consultants. It will give the opportunity to undertake a clinical and subject to
appropriate qualifications undertake an Independent prescribing role while gaining experience
as a senior leader in a complex and developing speciality.
A key objective will be to promote the introduction and use of the complex and high cost
medicines within the Trust and to support the use of biosimilar medicines.
We would expect you to have excellent clinical pharmacy knowledge with a sound
understanding of the use of biologic/biosimilar medicines and the financial aspects of these

Trust policy requires that the cost of submitting & processing the successful applicant/s DBS application be recovered via salary deduction following start in post. The amount of £23+£4 (standard disclosure) or £40+£4 (enhanced disclosure) can be deducted from salary, in manageable monthly installments for up to 3 months following commencement of employment.
Applicants are encouraged where possible, to register for the DBS update service, which will save the cost of repeated disclosures between employers, in return for a annual registration fee of £13.
