Lead Speech and Language Therapist

Permanent

Full Time

Salary up to £45000

Currently we are recruiting for a lead speech and language therapist. At our Brain Injury Rehabilitation Centre, we look after people over 18 who have a brain injury or neurological condition.There are two wards in our London site Across the two wards we provide assessment, rehabilitation, support and care.

Close to shops, restaurants and parks in vibrant Blackheath Village and nearby Greenwich, patients at our centre can enjoy regular outings, and throughout their stay with us, they will be encouraged to make their own choices and be as independent as they can be.

Key Responsibilities:


  • Provide specialist management and management of communication and swallowing disorders.
  • To manage the SLT service in relation to staffing, service and organisational issues.
  • To ensure accurate documentation of assessment, treatment and outcome measures across the whole department are maintained.
  • To take an active part in the key worker scheme.
  • To initiate and take a lead role in the development of SLT dept policies, guidelines and service developments.
  • To lead and under take research and audit activity with in the SLT department and across the service at the request of the Head of Department.
  • To initiate and take lead role in the multi-disciplinary team service developments.
  • Ensure the provision of a high quality SLT service and it's place with in the multi-disciplinary team.
  • Coordinate the induction and training of all new SLT staff, SLT students and participate in the induction and training of wider multi-disciplinary team members and key stake holders.
  • To organise and provide specialist training to SLT staff and the wider MDT in collaboration with other Head of Departments.
  • Take responsibility for the CPD, supervision and annual appraisal of SLT staff.
  • Take responsibility for own professional & personal development through performance and development reviews and attending all relevant training regular supervision at an appropriate level.
  • Ensure that all relevant codes of practice and regulations (MHA1983 & Care Standards 2000) are upheld.
  • Contribute and adhere to risk management strategies for an individual service users
  • To participate in the admissions process of the service as requested by the Centre Management.
  • To participate in outcome measurement and regular review of service delivery.
  • To comply with all company policies and procedures including Health & Safety and Fire Safety etc.
