An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Support Worker based in Clayton Le Moors
My client has been providing support and care for people with severe learning disabilities and associated needs such as sensory impairments and physical disabilities for over 30 years.
My clients aim is to give each person a happy, fulfilled, and comfortable life.
The role will involve supervising and working with the care staff team providing effective care and support to adult residents with profound learning difficulties and/or physical disabilities.
Duties & responsibilities:
To supervise and lead staff teams providing day to day support to service users.
Assisting the registered manager in general care/healthcare administration matters within the service. These will include:
- arranging cover for staff holidays and other absences.
- involvement with individual care plans.
- involvement with individual health action plans.
- risk assessments.
- involvement in new service user admissions.
- involvement in service user review meetings.
- being part of an 'on call' rota for the service.
- dealing with any complaints in line with policy and procedure in the absence of the Manager/Deputy, taking details and referring upwards when required.
Assisting the registered manager in the day-to-day personnel management within the service, including the completion of staff supervisions.
Helping the registered manager to supervise and to participate in Lifestyle activities for service users within the service and in the community. Including working alongside the Lifestyle Team; ensuring the rotas within the service provides relevant staffing levels so that activities can take place; motivating the staff to participate in activity sessions; completing company Lifestyle records accurately.
Ensuring staff are provided with on-the-job training and inductions so that they accurately provide the support required by service users but also create a homely atmosphere.
Identifying any gaps in training care staff have and referring this to the Manager.
Ensuring that care regulations and procedural matters are followed, and all policies and procedures adhered to.
Handling petty cash and services user's cash, providing receipts, and maintaining records as required.
Involvement with the ordering, storage, and administration of medications in accordance with service users' individual health plans and the service's internal procedures.
Ensuring that service users receive required healthcare treatments and attend scheduled appointments (hospital appointments, physiotherapy etc) in accordance with individual health plans.
Driving the Company's vehicles and mobility vehicles in line with Company procedures, to ensure services users can attend appointments and activities. (Not applicable to staff without a driving licence).
Working with the registered manager to maintain relationships with service users' families, social workers, and other professionals.
Maintaining and writing reports to a level acceptable by Care Quality Commission as required during day-to-day care and health care routines.
Ensuring that health & safety and fire regulations are always met within the service.
Attending training courses as required.
To perform other duties from time to time as may reasonably be required.
Full-time, Permanent working between 25-35 hours per week
Salary: £10-£10.50per hour
