Job Description

Applications are invited for a Locum Consultant Haematologist to undertake 10PAs at the North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust. This post will be available as from February 2020. Particular interests and experience in general/diagnostic haematology, thrombosis and laboratory haematology would be welcome, but there will be flexibility and opportunities to discuss other areas of interest following appointment.

This large acute Trust, serving a population of approximately 500,000 in North London, is a busy and ambitious hospital housed largely in recently refurbished facilities. The post-holder will be part of an enthusiastic and friendly team of 6 consultant haematologists, 6 trainee doctors; 3 nurse specialists and a highly experienced Transfusion Practitioner. The appointee will participate in an in-patient attending rota as well as in a 1 in 5 on-call rota out of hours.

The Department is a specialist centre for haemoglobin and red cell disorders, operating as the centre for a large Red Cell Network. We also treat a wide range of malignant and benign conditions, including level 2B malignant haematology patients (salvage chemotherapy for lymphoma), with the exception of haemophilia, intensive treatment of acute leukaemia and bone marrow transplantation. We offer a comprehensive nurse-led anticoagulation service and we have an established hospital transfusion service.
