Locum Consultant in Neuroanaesthesia

National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery

Fixed Term 9 months

University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a locum consultant in the department of neuroanaesthesia and neurocritical care at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.  This neuroanaesthetic post is a fixed term position for 9 months to cover maternity leave and is required to meet the planned increased clinical activity and to ensure a consultant led service at all times.

The National Hospital provides tertiary level care in a wide spectrum of neurological and neurosurgical disease with a regional, national and international referral base. The hospital is co-located with the Institute of Neurology in Queen Square, London WC1. Both institutions share the common aim of promoting research and teaching in neuroscience and its allied disciplines.

The department of neuroanaesthesia and neurocritical care comprises 19 consultants and 22 trainees.  This post supports all aspects of anaesthesia for neurosurgery and interventional neuroradiology including mechanical thrombectomy. The appointee will work flexibly to cover consultant leave within the department as required.   All candidates must be eligible for full GMC registration and either already be on the specialist register or be within three months of receiving their CCT in anaesthesia at the time of interview. Essential qualifications for this post include FRCA or equivalent.
