At Northampton General Hospital we provide general acute services and hyper-acute stroke, vascular and renal services to people living in Northamptonshire. As well as this we are an accredited cancer centre and provide cancer services to a wider population of Northamptonshire and parts of Buckinghamshire.

Mammographer (Band 6/ 5 if training required)

Location: Forrest Centre, Northampton General Hospital

Senior Radiographer –Mammographer, 3 days per week (22.5 hours)

An opportunity has arisen for you to join the Breast Imaging Team at Northampton General Hospital.

We are looking for an experienced radiographer with a postgraduate qualification in mammography.

The Post is graded at Band 6 for applicants in possession of a post-graduate qualification in mammography, however training will be provided at Band 5 for enthusiastic individuals willing to undertake post-graduate study, rising to Band 6 following successful completion of training and proof of competence.

The service supports a breast screening population of @60,000 women in Central and West Northamptonshire, and provides a symptomatic service for the county. This is provided by a static unit with 2 mammography units and 2 ultrasound rooms and 2 mobile screening units. Assessment and symptomatic appointments are offered at the Forrest centre, Northampton General Hospital.

We are currently undergoing a procurement programme and expect to replace all of our equipment with brand new digital mammography units with Tomosynthesis and Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography capabilities in the very near future. We use digital biopsy equipment and have a Bard EnCor Enspire vacuum biopsy system.

We are an extremely progressive department with a true 4 tier staffing structure.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our specialist team.

There is a requirement for the successful applicant to participate in the screening programme and therefore you will need a full driving licence and use of a car when working on the outlying mobile units.
