Job Description

Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust provides integrated acute and community Healthcare in the West Midlands serving a population of 260,000 residents. Walsall Manor Hospital houses the full range of district general hospital services. The £170 million development was completed in 2010 and we are continually upgrading. Construction of the new integrated critical care unit has been completed, and building development has also commenced for our new Neonatal Unit and soon to commence on our Emergency Department.

We provide high quality, friendly and effective community health services from multiple sites covering Walsall. Our multidisciplinary services include rapid response and homebased care, so that those with long term conditions and the frail elderly can remain in their own homes.

Post: Matron for Medicine and Long Term Conditions

Band: 8a

Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Contract: Permanent

We are looking for an exceptional individual to provide strong nursing leadership as part of a supportive team of Matrons covering medicine and long term conditions. The successful post holder will lead on continuous improvement of the patient safety and quality agendas, including safe staffing, growing the culture of learning from incidents, and ensuring consistency in the delivery of fundamentals of care. You will act as a positive role model for the wider nursing teams and will uphold the Trust values of respect, compassion, professionalism and teamwork.

The appointed candidate will have a portfolio of wards, departments and specialist teams, and will grow and develop relationships across the Division and Trust. You will have a strong sense of professional standards and accountability, whilst also ensuring that you grow a team that enjoys coming to work and lives up to being #WalsallandProud.

As a leader, you will already possess, and want to continue to grow, the following skills and attributes:

  • Visibility within the clinical area, to grow trust and confidence
