Domus are currently working on a really exciting role for a Mental Health Act Manager to join a great team over in North Hertfordshire in a busy Private Mental Health Hospital.
I am looking to speak with candidates who have an exceptional eye for detail, high rated organisational skills and excellent knowledge of the Mental Health Act. I am looking for an experienced Mental Health Act Manager who will be working closely with the whole of the Multi-Disciplinary Team.
This flagship site is a 45-bed mental health facility for adults in various settings, they are technology driven, outcomes focused and a growing care provider, made up of a hospital, nursing & residential care homes and supported living services and is on a mission to provide personalised and effective care.
You will join a friendly, highly skilled and enthusiastic MDT team that offer a comprehensive programme of care to our in-patients.
You will be responsible for following.
Scrutinising all the legal documentation relating to patients’ detention and ensuring it is accurate.
Ensure the provision of information / facilities / legal advice where appropriate on Mental Health Act.
Ensure all provisions and procedures in relation to Mental Health Tribunals are met as appropriate and in a timely manner.
Ensure that the Hospital’s legal responsibilities arising from the detention, care and treatment of its service users are met at all times.
Maintaining strong relationships with Hospital Managers, CQC, Ministry of Justice, Solicitors, IMHA and advocates.
Deliver regular in-house training in MHA/MCA/DOLS as well as coaching staff and answering service users’ questions around Mental Health Act issues.
Working closely with medical and nursing staff to ensure documentation is completed and submitted on time and to a high standard
Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Extensive experience in audit and compliance.
Ability to work well under pressure.
Exceptional organisational skills to achieve strict legal deadlines and prioritising different tasks.
Because it is a standalone role, you must be able to take initiative and make decisions in a responsible manner.
Coaching skills, to be able to challenge and direct staff on the use of the Mental Health Act.
To be able to read, understand, interpret and apply relevant legislation and current case law relating to the Act.
To keep up to date and attend training on the Mental Health Act and other legislation as appropriate.
To be able to maintain confidentiality at all times while communicating effectively with various external and internal stakeholders, such as MDT, the Mental Health Act Commission, the Mental Review Tribunal, Solicitors, the Home Office, GPs, social workers, service users, and their relatives.
