What’s special about this opportunity?

Are you are an enthusiastic and experienced registered mental health nurse with a passion for caring for vulnerable patients? Are you looking to stretch yourself and use your existing skills in a different area of mental health work? Or do you fancy a change of direction with an opportunity to use your skills as a way back into an inpatient service; this role may just be what you are looking for. Why not come back into the inpatient services where you can expand and build on your knowledge and skills. At Prospect Park Hospital, we can offer you a rewarding career, with great opportunities, where you can really make a difference to people’s lives.

We have an exciting opportunity within our in-patient service for a 12 month fixed term contract as a staff nurse within our acute adult admission ward.

Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust can provide you with a dynamic, people-centred environment, where you will be empowered to support patients with complex conditions, adopting a personalised approach to patient care that maximises independence, choice and control, following our philosophy of enabling people to reach and maintain their optimum level of health and wellbeing.

Working in a passionate team, you will have access to our Trust-wide Learning and Development programme and be supported in your career and personal growth. We are pioneers in compassionate leadership and Quality Improvement, which is about creating a culture where everyone has a voice and where service users and staff collaborate to have a direct impact on the things that matter most.

We value our employees and put people first. As a Global Digital Exemplar, we will provide you with an excellent working environment that has just been recognised as having a ‘Good’ rating overall, being an ‘Outstanding’, well-led, organisation, and having an ‘Outstanding’ Older Adults Mental Health Team in our latest CQC inspection, which found that: ‘Managers across Berkshire Healthcare promoted a positive culture that supported and valued staff, creating a sense of common purpose based on shared values.’

About you:

As a registered nurse with a passion for caring for vulnerable patients, you will have excellent communication and people skills, a warm personality and the resilience to help us transform our patients’ lives; you will have a good understanding of acute mental health treatment and legislation. Eager to share your knowledge when managing and mentoring more junior members of staff, you will be an inspirational member of our team, striving to be your very best and supporting colleagues in the delivery of compassionate, safe and structured care. You will be proactive, ensuring seamless delivery across a multi-disciplinary team and be able to work without direct supervision, showing initiative and a determination to support patients and their families through creative engagement. A calming influence, you will be able to deal with difficult and distressing situations professionally and with sincerity. Your energy and drive will be rewarded with the support of an enthusiastic team that strives to create a warm, friendly and compassionate environment.
