The boards of Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust and North Cumbria University Hospitals NHS Trust have confirmed that, alongside their regulators and governors, they will explore options to formally join together.
The move is a natural progression of the vision of the two organisations and broader system to join up healthcare for patients, and will also improve efficiency by reducing duplication and bureaucracy. It follows news in May that North Cumbria Health and Care System has been confirmed as one of the national pilots for integrated care and is being described by regulators as one of the most rapidly improving systems.
The two Trusts have had the same Chief Executive since 1st September 2017 and have already taken a number of steps to join up their work. The Trusts will now explore formal ways to unite using guidance from the NHS Improvement on undertaking transactions with the ambition of doing so in 2019. For some staff that means that either now or in the near future they will be in roles working across both organisations.

Midwifery Practice Educator
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Midwife to provide specialist expertise to clients in the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal period, delivering high quality, evidence based care to women and acting as advocate for women and protector of the child within the hospital / community setting. You will be responsible and accountable for the development of the maternity service to ensure high standards of clinical care are maintained, you will also maintain professional development, liaise with other professionals in the multidisciplinary team, and support the other midwives in developing the maternity services.
The Trust is committed to safeguarding adults and children therefore if the post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended) the successful candidate(s) will be subject to a criminal records check with the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). The cost of the DBS must be met by the successful candidate(s) through salary deduction. DBS charges are as follows if applicable to the post:
Enhanced Check costs £44.00 + £3.50 admin + £0.70 VAT (VAT is only chargeable on the admin fee)
Standard Check costs £26.00 + £3.50 admin + £0.70 VAT
