Superb opportunity for an accomplished Next Generation Sequencing Expert to join an internationally renowned contract testing laboratory.
Your primary responsibilities will include establishing, promoting and leading an exciting new NGS Pathology service in a busy hospital laboratory. In-house you will be the recognised technical expert and have primary responsibility for the development and validation of challenging novel NGS methods and workflow processes/ procedures. The laboratory will be initially sequencing COVID samples. You will be pivotal in the development and expansion of the NGS team; attending and presenting at international meetings as well being involved in the initial and continued training of Medical Lab Assistants and NGS Scientists. You will offer technical support to commercial teams, keeping up to date with NGS industry news and tracking market trends.
The ideal candidate will possess:
* BSc/ MSc/ PhD in Biology (or related discipline) with extensive experience in NGS (ideally Illumina OR Oxford Nanopore platforms
* An outstanding reputation via a strong scientific pedigree
* Strong method development and validation skills
* Experience with automated liquid handlers & LIMS systems is desirable
* Experience working in UKAS environment is desirable
* Confident training staff of all levels
