Calling all Paediatric Nurses

 

111 Clinical Telephone Triage Nurse – Band 6 (£28,050 – £36,644) + Unsocial Hours Allowance as per Section 2 Agenda for Change

We at South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) have exciting opportunities within our dynamic and innovative integrated urgent care service which is driven by saving lives and ensuring our patients receive the care that they need.

Calls relating to patients under 18 years of age are a significant part of the work we do, we are recruiting reliable and enthusiastic Paediatric Nurses to join our motivated, friendly and hardworking team of Clinicians based in Bicester in Oxfordshire.

You will be supporting the developing integrated Urgent care service to deliver the best outcomes for all callers.

If you are a Paediatric Nurse working in the Community, General Practice, Health Visiting or Hospital based then this could be the change of role you are looking for, if you tired of juggling a caseload or multiple responsibilities then consider a role where you can concentrate on the needs of one caller at a time.

It’s a very busy service with 1.2million calls a year, every call is different and you do not know what is coming next, we can offer a challenge and lots of variety and a place on our very welcoming team.

You:

 

Working within this role you will carry out complex clinical telephone triage in a sensitive manner providing assessment, advice and information in line with clinical assessment software whilst utilising your knowledge, experience and professional judgement, referring to other services where appropriate.

Essential Requirements:

  • NMC registration

  • Registered  Paediatric  nurse RN8: Children's nurse, level 1 RNC: Children's nurse, level 1.
  • Triage experience

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure

  • Good level of computer literacy

  • Ability to communicate effectively

  • Recent professional clinical experience

Desirable Requirements:

  • Motivated towards further professional development

  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and audit practices

  • Flexible working approach

Successful candidates will be required to complete a seven weeks fulltime training programme, covering internal systems, NHS pathways assessments and call centre mentoring. We offer continued support throughout this role.
