Senior Occupational Therapist - Acute Medical Rotations



Specialist Occupational Therapist

In patient Rotations

Band 6 salary: £34,961 - £42,010 per annum (incl of HCAA)

Full time 37.5 hours.



We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated senior occupational therapist that is keen to develop their skills within our friendly and dynamic therapy team as part of our band 6 in-patient rotation.

All our rotations will provide you with excellent opportunities to develop a wide range of clinical and professional skills in a band 6 role in the following clinical areas:

Neurological and Stroke RehabilitationWith the rotation alternating between the Hillingdon stroke unit and our Neuro-Rehabilitation unit at Mount Vernon Hospital you will gain experience the early management of stroke patients, and in specialist Neuro-Rehabilitation.

Acute Medicine:The post provides excellent opportunities to develop your clinical assessment and reasoning skills with a wide ranging caseload.

Acute Older Adults:You will further develop strong assessment and analytical skills when managing the functional needs of this complex cohort of acutely unwell older people often with complex medical and social needs.

Frailty Team:This team will develop your skills and experience of working with older people within a Specialist Frailty assessment unit, in the Emergency Department and in an out-patient clinic setting. There may be opportunities for specialist falls management in the community as patients leave hospital with an increased risk/fear. It operates in a blended capacity with integrated OT, Physiotherapy and Nursing assessments.

Our service is committed to continuing your professional development (CPD) and in strong clinical governance. You will be given regular support, training, clinical supervision and will participate in in-house training sessions. You will also have support in developing your supervision and leadership skills.

We have strong links with our local universities, enabling us to make valuable contributions to fieldwork education, as well as working together to develop evidence based practice

We are looking for a therapist who demonstrates strong team skills and who is capable of assessing and treating the functional needs of patients within the changing environment of an acute hospital setting. We are proud to be part of an integrated therapy structure with our physiotherapy colleagues. We are looking for candidates with the following:
• HPC registration and a minimum of 18months post graduate clinical experience including a minimum of 6 months in acute hospital care.
• Hard working, adaptable, dynamic individuals who possess high-level communication skills, initiative and self-motivation.
• Basic knowledge and skills of each specialty offered in the rotation
• Demonstrate strong teamwork skills
• Car driver desirable
