Occupational Therapist ( Band 5 Rotational post)
Virgincare Surrey (based from Farnham hospital/ Camberley health centre)
The Virgin Care Community Hospitals, Rapid Response and Rehabilitation Occupational therapists provide specialist advice and treatment for patients in both our Community Hospitals and within their own homes. We deliver an occupational therapy service for across the surrounding region and aim to make a difference to people's lives within this community.
As a rotational Occupational Therapist you will join a multidisciplinary team and will work alongside dedicated and highly-skilled NHS-trained Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Speech Therapists and Nursing staff. You will receive support for development and regular clinical supervision from experienced therapists.
This is an ideal first rotation for a new graduate or for an experienced Band 5 clinician wishing to consolidate their clinical skills, developing specialist expertise and enhance their supervision/teaching knowledge. Rotations are for 6 months and include Inpatient Rehabilitation (stroke and older people) and Community Rehabilitation, with some input into the Rapid Response service. Rotational are based at Farnham hospital and Camberley Health service
Working closely with multi-disciplinary teams across health, social and voluntary sectors you'll deliver high quality, individualised, evidence based care to all patients, maintain confidentiality, privacy and dignity of patients. You'll care for patients and their families in the way that you believe is best, delivering our high service standards, sharing best practice, and actively improving the way we work
Band 5 Occupational Therapists have on-site band 6 and 7 support, regular in-service training, and individual objective setting with supervision.
The successful post holder will be responsible for;
Delivering of high quality, individualised, evidenced based care to all patients
To maintain accurate records in line with local standards and The Royal college of Occupational Therapists standards.
Maintaining confidentiality, privacy and dignity of patients
Learning, developing and adapting to change evidenced in CPD
Operating in a team and contributing to team decisions
Managing own caseload and prioritising
Teaching of patients, carers and peers
Ensuring that therapy input is integrated into the patients' overall care plan
Operating as an autonomous practitioner working without direct supervision and at times lone working
Providing support to unqualified staff and students
Working with managers to develop the service in line with patient need, local and national developments
Leading, developing and managing others
Successful applicants will demonstrate the following essential qualities:
Motivation, adaptability and innovation
Ability to work flexibly across specialities as need arises
Ability to carry out a range of assessments and procedures in order to write and evaluate treatment plans
Ability to identify and set clinical goals with patient and / or carer
Possess HCPC (Occupational Therapy) registration
Experience of working within an NHS organisation at preregistration or post registration level
Knowledge of relevant national guidance and other relevant initiatives
Ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams across health, social and voluntary sectors
Excellent communication skills
BSc/Diploma in Occupational Therapy or equivalent
Access to a car and hold a valid UK licence
