Job Description

JustOT is recruiting for a senior OT to work in a 40-bed mental health hospital in north Hertfordshire, offering a range of specialist services for both men and women across 3 separate locked wards.

Salary £32,000 - £35,000 dependent on experience
Hours Full-time (37.5 hours per week) - Mon-Fri
Start July 2019

Job Purpose:
• To work as part of the Psychology and Therapies team across all units ensuring smooth and seamless psychology and therapies services provision across all sites of the company that meets the needs of all service user groups cared for by the healthcare care teams.
• To work within the multidisciplinary teams across all healthcare units, managing a defined caseload of service users providing core occupational therapy assessments and interventions that enable the services users to work towards recovery, a valued lifestyle and aim for optimum level of functional ability.

The care provided is
•8-bed psychiatric intensive care unit for women aged 18-65 (PICU)
•Rehabilitation service for men aged 18 to 65 who present with behavioural challenges and complex mental health needs

Key Responsibilities:
• To undertake occupational therapy assessments leading to the identification of the service users' needs whilst addressing occupational performance, establishing baseline levels of functioning, establishing strengths and skills deficits and, enabling the service users in areas of self-care, productivity and leisure. To collaboratively identify the goals of occupational therapy interventions with the service users as part of the overall care plan.
• To plan and implement individual and group evidence-based interventions, in collaboration with the service users and staff, using graded activity to achieve therapeutic goals.

To be considered for this role you must have -
•Full HCPC registration
•Degree/diploma in Occupational Therapy
•Team leading experience
•Experience of working in complex mental health supporting vulnerable adults who present with a wide range of issues (psychiatric conditions, mild LD, older adults with neurocognitive deficits, personality disorders) and complex physical health care needs.
