Oncology Staff Nurse

Key Details: An exciting opportunity has arisen for enthusiastic and motivated Oncology Staff Nurse to join a Private Hospital in Kensington, London. Salary: £29,000 - £36,000 per annum / £14.87- £18.46 per hour based on 37.5 hours per week. (negotiable depending on experience )

Location: Central London

Hours: 37.5 - Full Time - split into long days and nights

Contract Type: Permanent

About the Department

The Cancer Centre at our Private Hospital prides itself on having highly-skilled, multi-disciplinary teams of surgeons and oncologists capable of treating a wide range of cancers. The centre has a team of over 25 consultant radiologists to read and interpret the varied range of diagnostic scans, as well as other cancer related specialities including dermatology, gastroenterology and respiratory medicine.

Many of our consultants are drawn from the major London teaching hospitals and have considerable experience in their particular area of expertise, and work in multidisciplinary teams with their colleagues where appropriate. The oncology department is a 26 inpatient bedded unit and chemotherapy day unit with 8 treatment chairs.The oncology service treats all forms of cancer, both solid and haematological tumours.Treatments can be in the form of radiotherapy and chemotherapy. The service also offers palliative care, with dedicated team, and a breast care service.

As a Registered Nurse with a valid NMC PIN Number, you will have experience within Oncology and be a caring and compassionate professional.

As a part of our excellent training Programmes we can provide training in Chemotherapy to improve your skill set.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure high standards of care for patients and their families by:

  • Delivery and management of direct nursing care,
  • Working with agreed nursing standards and according to Nursing and Midwifery Council Code for nurses,
  • Being accountable for nursing outcomes,
  • Enhancing the quality of care by assisting with the management of change in nursing practice based on evidence/research.
  • Plan and organise own workload in order to meet patient need.
  • Understand the principles of delivering prescribed treatment safely to achieve positive patient outcomes.
  • Within a system of case management, co-ordinate and monitor the progress of patient care and report any variance appropriately.
  • Ensure the correct storage and administration of medications in accordance with the hospital policies and NMC Standards for Medicine Management and ensure the safe handling of drug keys at all times.
  • Practice multidisciplinary team care and contribute actively towards its successful management.
  • Act at all times as the patient advocate.
  • Work in accordance with the Nursing Strategy to meet the Hospital and Nursing objectives.
