We are currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) to join an exciting Theatres Department in Ampthill.
To be considered for this job, you'll be extremely committed to providing patients with the highest standards of care. The right Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) will have practical skills and plenty of experience in a theatres setting. As this role involves lengthy surgical procedures and operations, you must be able to concentrate for long periods at a time. As with all roles in a surgical setting, this position may be high-pressured at times, so you must be capable of remaining calm, solving problems quickly and effectively when needed.
Excellent organisational skills are also essential for a job of this nature.
As you'll be supporting patients throughout their surgical journey, it's vital that you have a personable nature and understand the importance of making patients feel comfortable, especially before surgery when they are likely to be extremely nervous.
Your daily duties might include everything from assessing patients after their surgery and ensuring they're stable for a return to the ward, to preparing the operating theatre and any surgical equipment before the surgery takes place.
This role may also include ensuring the operating theatres are clean, stock-taking and reordering specific drugs, handing instruments and items to the surgical team during an operation and record-taking.
