Oviva provides digitally enabled dietetic services to the NHS, including many successful medicines
optimisation services to improve the care of infants with cow’s milk protein allergy (CMPA) and reduce
unnecessary prescribing spend on infant formula. We are looking for a Paediatric Dietitian to help support
delivery of our cow’s milk protein allergy services.
The successful candidate will ideally have experience in paediatrics in the community setting, with knowledge
of managing CMPA (specifically non IgE mediated). You will work alongside our specialist paediatric dietitians
to deliver our unique remote care pathway supported by Oviva’s technology. You will engage with GPs and
other common prescribers and audit the prescribing of specialist infant formula in line with local guidance.
You will need to be good communicator working in partnership with service users, other agencies, health
professionals and stakeholders. The role will also involve providing education to health professionals. The
ideal candidate is a dietitian who is keen to develop their knowledge and experience in managing cow’s milk
protein allergy and appropriate prescribing. Depending on your location you will have the opportunity to work
remotely or to support the dietitians by delivering education sessions and collecting audit data within the CCG.
To deliver a remote rapid access clinic to patients with suspected non IgE cow’s milk protein allergy,
via telephone, video call and app messaging. This will be, supported by Oviva’s technology and,
alongside the specialist paediatric dietitians.
Deliver care to patients with suspected or diagnosed with CMPA. This will involve ensuring the
reintroduction challenge is conducted to confirm correct diagnosis, as well as checking and reviewing
prescriptions are in line with the local guideline. You will also support parents/carers with weaning
and the milk ladder in order to stop prescriptions in a timely manner.
The core focus of the service will be the management of infants’ prescribed formula feeds; the service
may also include the review and management of paediatric ONS, to ensure these are appropriately
Implementing, reviewing and developing evidence-based guidelines with support of the specialist
Provide education on managing CMPA and appropriate infant formula prescribing to other health
professionals such as local GPs, secondary care and Health visitors.
Analysing and reporting outcomes
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date clinical records using Oviva’s secure electronic medical record
Review and develop patient resources including our unique Oviva ‘learn’ education platform.
Maintaining adequate CPD and continuing to meet HCPC registration requirements
