Our client is one of London's leading private hospitals with over 30 years of experience providing world class healthcare. The hospital is a specialist provider of cardiac, cancer and neurology care to adults and children, including young babies. With their state of the art facilities spanned across various clinic sites they are able to offer the most advanced treatments to their patients.
We are currently looking to recruit Paediatric nurses to work in their new paediatric bone marrow transplant unit. This new unit will focus on treating a variety of malignant and non-malignant haematology conditions in children and young people requiring blood and marrow transplantation, as well as providing autologous transplantation for specific oncology disorders.
Reporting into senior members of staff you will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standard of care is provided to patients and their families at all times within the BMT unit. You will act as an advocate for your patients, recognising and adhering to their needs and the needs of their families at all times. You will recognise, react and appropriately manage any oncology or haematology emergencies that arise and ensure to report them in a timely manner. Working in this role will involve the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information to patients and their families and helping them to overcome any barriers to understanding, while also providing support during distressing or emotional events. Part of your day to day will involve planning discharges from admission, liaising with multi-disciplinary teams as well as other departments and community services where necessary. You will also be assigned other ad hoc duties by senior members of staff as per the units requirements.
Working hours are based on a rotational shift pattern
To be considered for this role you will have experience of working in a transplant unit, however candidates with experience in oncology/haematology or immunology with an interest in working in bone marrow transplant will also be considered. Ideally you will have a strong background of working with acute/chronically sick children and a thorough understanding of current practices in children's nursing, however candidates with experience of working in bone marrow transplant in adult who are keen to work with children can also be considered. You will be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure. Working as part of a team you will have excellent communication skills and be a good team player.
