Our client is a large hospital offering a comprehensive range of general and acute services across the Portsmouth area. The hospital offers a 24hour A&E service and also an AMU and SAU providing rapid diagnostic assessment for patients admitted in emergency. The site also boasts a Renal and Transplant unit and are specialists in Oncology services as well as being one of the largest Ministry of Defence hospital units in England Opportunities:
We are looking to recruit experienced Paediatric Nurse to work at the hospital in Portsmouth. In this role you will get to work between the children's assessment unit and the medical and surgical ward. Rotating across the departments will help enhance your specialisms in areas such as surgical ENT and orthopaedics. You will also get to develop in areas such as emergency referrals and ward reviews.
Reporting into senior members of staff you will be responsible for ensuring that the highest standard of care is provided to patients and their families at all times. You will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care plans for individual children and advise junior members of staff on how this process is done. You will act as an advocate for your patients, recognising and adhering to their needs and the needs of their families at all times. Working in this role will involve the ability to communicate complex and sensitive information to patients and their families and helping them to overcome any barriers to understanding, while also providing support during distressing or emotional events. Part of your day to day will involve planning discharges from admission, liaising with multi-disciplinary teams as well as other departments and community services where necessary. You will be competent in administering of medication and ensure that clinical practice is evidence based or peer reviewed. You will also be assigned other ad hoc duties by senior members of staff as per the units requirements. Working hours are based on a rotational shift pattern
To be considered for this role you will have experience of working as a Children's Nurse and a valid RCN/NMC pin number. You will have basic/intermediate paediatric life support and a good understanding of safeguarding issues however newly qualified nurses can be considered.You will be a caring and compassionate nurse with strong attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure.
