Due to the progression of staff within the team we are seeking to recruit several Pharmacy Technicians . The pharmacy department is forward thinking and continues to seek innovative development and improvements in the delivery of our services to enhance to the safe and efficient supply of medicines to our patients. Following successful rotation and completion of competencies the department aims to support a timely progression from band 4 to band 5.
Your duties will include:

• Dispensing of inpatient, discharge and outpatient medication for patients in the Trust

• Planning and organising dispensing and supply to local Mental Health Trust

• Supporting medicines reconciliation, review of patients own medicines and discharge planning working with the ward based pharmacy teams

• Audit and project work

• Accuracy checking of dispensed medication once qualification gained

You should be positive about the extended role of the pharmacy technician and developing themselves and the work of our team to support patient care. Support and training will be provided to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge to be effective in the role and this will include the opportunity to undertake management medicines training and an accuracy checking qualification.

The department provides a seven day service and the successful candidate will be required to work weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis. You will be required to work at both sites of the Trust – Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital.

Depending on bed capacity within the hospital, there are occasions where the volume of work requires flexibility from the team on duty to stay late to ensure patient care is not compromised. In these instances, staff are reimbursed with either additional pay or lieu time.

If you are successful in obtaining a position with our Trust which involves working with patients, you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Check. As a registered body with the DBS, Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust will conduct the administration of this application on your behalf and the cost will be recovered from your salary, either as a one-off payment or over 3 months. Currently the charges made by the Disclosure and Barring Service are - Standard DBS check £30.20 and Enhanced DBS check £48.20. The level of check required depends on the role that you have been offered.
